Who we are
Operation Not on Our Watch (NOW) is a business devoted to saving lives. In 2005 there were 10 teenage deaths due to auto accidents in Brevard County Florida. Since the inception of Operation NOW years 2006 and 2007 saw zero deaths. In 2008, sad to say, there was one teen casualty. That teenager had not attended the ONOW event.
Operation NOW is the idea of one man, Rene Rubiella. Mr. Rubiella saw his daughter Allie become just one more statistic on the state of Florida’s traffic death website. Overcome with grief as you might expect, he vowed to eliminate the needless teenage deaths which steal our most promising national resource each year.
Our Mission Statement
The mission of Operation NOW is to demonstrate to teenagers who are either driving or soon to be driving the inherent dangers of driving while distracted. Reaching them at this initial stage of their driving lifetime allows good habits to be set as the foundation rather than attempting to change bad habits later. In this way, Operation NOW is looking to create future generations of drivers that appreciate the awesome power and responsibility that goes with operating a motor vehicle while at the same time stressing that experience can be simultaneously fun and safe.
